What to expect at AMC

It is very important that employment in our area of engineering practice meets your goals and requirements.  In fact, this is as important to AMC as knowing that you meet our job requirements.  A good "fit" for both parties helps create a mutually satisfying experience and successful relationships

What exactly does AMC do?

AMC Engineers designs mechanical, electrical, plumbing and telecommunications systems for a wide variety of buildings and related facilities.  We work with commercially available technology and equipment, often in innovative ways, to provide essential systems such as lighting, power, communication, heating, fire protection, plumbing and more.  After design, we assist with bidding and follow the job through construction, answering questions and making recommendations as the project is constructed.

What will you do as a new engineer?

An entry-level position with AMC engineers gives you the opportunity to work with experienced, registered engineers designing systems for a variety of buildings and facilities.  The projects are challenging and rewarding.   We work with owners and design team members to develop a facility concept and construction documents, and assist during the construction of a project.  We often work with the building maintenance personnel and the users once the project is in operation to discover what design elements work best and which can be improved.  You will visit job sites and experience the operation of buildings you helped to design.

As an engineer at AMC, you'll be expected to develop excellent communications skills. You'll be in direct contact with a variety of people involved in all aspects of construction, from building owners and project architects to electricians and plumbers.  On a typical project, you will work with other engineering disciplines, architects, building owners and users, building maintenance workers, construction contractors and manufacturing representatives.
