Large multistory building with decorative panelling and large sculpture in front yard

Project

Alaska Scientific Crime Detection Laboratory

This award-winning forensic laboratory was designed for functionality and efficiency. The facility was arranged in two wings connected by a prominent two-story entry and lobby. One wing houses general administration and laboratory training, while the other contains forensic investigation labs for DNA testing, ballistics analysis, and secure evidence storage. Advanced engineering solutions, including an efficient HVAC system, optimized lighting, and a custom laboratory-safe heat recovery system, contributed to significant energy savings. AMC’s exclusive “pressure mapping” strategy ensured precise zone pressure control, enhancing lab safety and protecting the building envelope from moisture damage.
